About the property

This unit is available for temporary lodging purposes and is available on a weekly or monthly basis. ALL UTILITIES INCLUDED. Our dates of availability fluctuate often--please don't hesitate to contact us and inquire as to the availability. The unit is meant to accommodate 1 or 2 persons only. For additional occupants please inquire as to options and further information. UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS UNIT: We consider this unit a Holistic Home Stay experience. If it is important to you have access to well water, limited EMF exposure and 100% cotton (organic cotton when possible) linens, No LED lighting, fresh air and farm eggs when available and seasonal garden produce then this unit might be right for you. We do not permit, nor do we use WIFI/Hot Spots/etc. on the property. Nor do we use or run any 5G in the form of cell phones or routers or smart appliances, etc. Internet is available via Ethernet for longer term occupants (please inquire for more information). The unit is private and the farm fairly quiet...you may hear roosters or the occasional barking dog (they alert us to coyotes in the field); or military jets from time to time....otherwise, it's pretty quiet and we like it that way. ;) PROPERTY DESCRIPTION & LOCATION: Contemporary Guest House on small residential farm. The home is mainly an upper level unit with beautiful ocean views to the North of the San Juan Islands and to the West of the Puget Sound and Canada. Mount Baker can be clearly seen to the North East and the Gorgeous Snow Capped Olympic Mountains to the South West. We are located across the street from the Joseph Whidbey State Park and Beach. There is a trail that can be taken from the house, across the street, through the woods down to the beach. The hike takes about 15 minutes and puts you right onto West Beach. Rocky Point beach is an additional 5 minute walk north up the coast. The area is zoned rural; we have sheep and chickens on-site. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT ANIMALS ARE FREE RANGE. It is not uncommon for them to roam onto the driveway or other spaces accessed by us. Care should be taken when driving anywhere on the property. STORAGE AND PARKING: Additional large scale storage available for RV/Boat-inquire for fees and availability. Ample parking available on a 3 car parking pad close to home. No charge for up to 2 vehicles. FLOORING AND FURNISHINGS: The home has hardwood floors; travertine tiles in the entry and bathroom. There are new area rugs in the bedroom and living room. Furnishings are mostly eclectic farmhouse/contemporary; LCD Flat panel Smart TV in LR, 2 barstools at kitchen counter. BEDROOM: The Pottery Barn Queen sized canopy bed has a hybrid memory foam and coil steel spring mattress. The bedroom accommodates up to 2 adult persons. We use 100% cotton linens; (organic cotton when possible). BATHROOM: The bathroom is newly updated and includes a new contemporary sink and a tiled tub/shower combination. Stocked with towels and some necessities to get you started. Linens are 100% cotton or organic cotton. KITCHEN: The kitchen includes stainless steel appliances. Countertops are butcher block. Keurig coffee maker, toaster and electric tea pot available. Kitchen is stocked with all necessary items. There is no garbage disposal due to the fact that we are on a septic system. Water is from our community well and is fully potable. There is a Berkey; gravity water filter with charcoal filters available upon request and for an additional fee. HEATING/COOLING: Fees include the following utilities; water, electricity, sewer, garbage, recycling and propane. The home is heated with an FA Unit and also has a MORSO wood burning stove. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Oak Harbor, it is not common to have AC units in our homes. We have a nice cool breeze off the ocean--so we just open our windows! (Please open only those that have screens) This home is unique and located in the sought after West side of the island. We get late afternoon sunshine during the winter months and lingering sunsets in the summer. There aren't any large trees around the house which keeps it clean and dry. We do not have any moisture or mildew issues sometimes common with North West homes that may not get enough sunlight. RESERVATION DETAILS: We strive to assist you in your temporary lodging needs in order to help facilitate a smooth relocation or enjoyable visit to the area. So, we make this unit available with daily, weekly and monthly reservation terms and affordable rates. PLEASE REMOVE SHOES UPON ENTRY-there is a bench and shoe storage in the foyer *(a minimum cleaning fee of $200 will be assessed for shoes worn inside home. PETS PROHIBITED INSIDE HOME-Although we don't typically accommodate pets on the property it is possible we may be able to provide assistance under certain circumstances. In the event we are able to provide space for your pet the fees would vary based on the type and size of your pet(s), length of stay, etc. Pet owners must agree to daily clean up of their pet pen and assume full responsibility for any damage or injury that occurs as a direct or indirect result of the actions of their pet. Pets may roam freely inside their allocated pet space but must be otherwise leashed. In the event we cannot accommodate your pet we suggest contacting Sunset Kennels which borders the southeast corner of our property. They offer a military discount for long term boarding. PLEASE DRIVE CAUTIOUSLY-Livestock, pets and children may be present. DISHES MUST BE CLEANED AND PUT AWAY UPON CHECK OUT; otherwise please leave the cleaning to us. We have stringent cleaning standards that must be done by us so it is not necessary for any cleaning on your part at check out. We do not charge a cleaning fee for normal use of the unit.
